Chingones in Chatan serves up lively, authentic birria tacos and carnitas that nail the street-taco experience. The bar-forward atmosphere, warm staff and house recipes (the bartender even swears by his mother’s secret touch) make it a great spot for nights out or casual dinners. Standouts include dirty-style nachos, shrimp ceviche and a thoughtful drink list—perfect when you want bold flavors in a relaxed, inviting setting trusted by many locals and visitors alike.

3 weeks agoChingones – Okinawa’s Best Mexican Spot Chingones is, without a doubt, one of the best Mexican restaurants in Okinawa. I ordered the Dirty-Style Nachos and two Birria tacos, and both were outstanding. The tacos had a perfect little kick of spice, and the overall flavor was excellent. The atmosphere is lively and inviting, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. While at the bar, I mentioned to the bartender how superb the tacos were, and he proudly told me they were his mother’s recipe. We exchanged a friendly fist bump, and his polite, welcoming attitude made the experience even better. If you haven’t been to Chingones yet, you’re missing out—this is a must-visit spot for great food and great vibes.

7 months agoThe closest I have found to proper street tacos on Okinawa. Carnitas is really good, as is the carne asada. By the way, on the menu where it says dirty, they mean add beans… That’s a first for me, but the owner lady said that’s what American service people call it. Not in California where I’m from… but the beans were good whatever you want to call them. Looking forward to trying a burrito. (I think I’ll have to order it minus French fries… ick) Hot sauces could be spicier, but that’s Japan. Prices are good. Decor is good. Service is great. Tamarindo drink not too sweet, just right. Michelada not quite right for my taste… but, with 1 million versions of that beverage out there, it’s very subjective. Carnitas burrito “dirty“ absolutely killer! Shrimp ceviche also very, very good. This place is awesome I will be back

5 months agoI've been wanting to come here for a while, and now that I was finally able to try it I was a little disappointed. The vibes are good however, the food did not make me want to return.

a year agoBest Mexican food I've tried so far on the island. Amazing atmosphere, attentive staff and food quality is top tier along with the drinks too. Will definitely come back here whenever craving some good Mexican food.

5 months agoIf you’re looking for authentic Mexican food this isn’t the place. The food wasn’t terrible, but it definitely wasn’t worth the price. ¥1,700 for the dirty asada Cali burrito (no side/drink) that could easily be held and eaten cleanly with one hand. Save your money and skip the asada, the carnitas and chicken both had a much better flavor. The horchata seemed like it was the powder mix, but they did offer several flavors.
