Barraca is a cozy spot in Kioto serving generous paella portions and a warm Basque-inspired menu. Expect a full set meal with bread, salad, soup, paella and dessert — plus excellent sherries and standout sangria. The atmosphere feels distinctly European yet intimate, with helpful staff and an English menu for easy ordering. A great choice for those seeking hearty, well-executed Spanish fare in the city.

2 months agoThis is a lovely cafe. The seafood paella was delicious. But the prices are not. Try the basque cheesecake … very delicious.

a year agoI was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food at this paella restaurant. Everything from bread, salad, soup, paella, to desserts were all superb. Even better than most of the highly rated restaurants in Spain. Service was great and very fast. Portions are big to Japanese standard. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

a year agoI had so many happy thoughts in this little hem of a place. First day alone in Kyoto and I am suddenly in Baque. Very good sherries, best sangria I have ever had, cool/cosy atmosphere, really good paella. I got to keep the menu, which was good reading and for ordering extras. Burnt cheesecake was as good as I make myself.
