2 weeks agoMexican restaurant on the 9th floor of the NEWOMAN YOKOHAMA building at Yokohama station. Though I felt dishes they served was different from what is served in the USA (or at least in Texas), I am sure most Americans would really appreciate their dishes. (Well, I do not know if Mexican dishes served in Texas restaurants are real Mexican cuisine or not in the first place.) Most of them have a little rich taste with slightly moderate spiciness. And they seem to serve local beers each of which has their respective aroma. While traveling in Japan, Sushi, Sukiyaki or even Ramen might be good choices. But if you are craving something more familiar (I mean, if you are a typical American), I think this restaurant will not disappoint you.

2 months agoDare I say… this is some great Mexican food! I don’t think I can say this place is 100% authentic… yet the food here still tastes absolutely phenomenal on its own. The guac-making on the spot is a cool experience, something I never even really saw back in LA. The ambience is also great here, not too quiet, not too loud, not too casual, not too fancy.

6 months agoNot super easy to find, you need to go up in the elevator in the NeWoman building in the station. The food is great though and the drinks are excellent too. They are not very attentive as we kept finding ourselves trying to get their attention. A little expensive but big portions and the food comes quickly. They did not do the table side guacamole that I have seen done in the past. Busy early so you should book in advance. Full English menu and most staff speak a little English.

3 years agoThough the restaurant is called Margarita, we had surprisingly good non-alcoholic drinks to start our meal, due to restrictions during the State of Emergency, though that has ended at the time of this writing. The staff also seated customers as far apart as possible, making it more comfortable to enjoy the food at a leisurely pace, without the usual worries of a packed restaurant. My partner and I went for lunch, had a large spacious table to ourselves, and enjoyed entirely too much food at a fairly reasonable price for Mexican food in Yokohama (or Japan for that matter). The menu is quite varied (if not a bit all-over-the-place, with options from not only Mexico but throughout South America) with highlights being the tacos and the fajitas. I was excited to see refried beans on the menu, which are often missing from Mexican restaurants in Japan—and at only ¥300!—but they ended up being the only disappointing part of the order, as they were mostly whole, vaguely mashed pinto beans, all somehow cooked to a different texture…but hey, only ¥300, so what can you do? The staff was friendly, but not constantly hovering, the food was (mostly) well-prepared and didn't take long to arrive, and we didn't feel rushed to leave. I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area, and hopefully I'll be able to enjoy a proper margarita with my chips and guacamole!

a year agoI was looking for more authentic Mexican food and this wasn’t it so it was disappointing for me. The food was okay. My husband got the chicken quesadilla and I got the shrimp fajita dish wish came with a fun fire presentation but the taste wasn’t what I expected. The restaurant is nice and the table side guacamole was good. Also, we navigated here and had travel finding it. It is inside the Newoman building not a stand alone restaurant.
