I had a vegan ramen with tofu (think it might have been limited edition, but they also had another vegan ramen option!) and it was delicious! My partner had the beef ramen, and he also found it really good! The dumplings were also vegan and good tasting! Very happy we came across the place, and we’re definitely going to the one located in Kyoto as well, which is our next stop!
The sweetest experience. Amazing and flavorful vegan and pork ramen. Also a surprise that they had dairy free ice cream! The matcha and chocolate were great. The original cocktails there are beautiful and tasty too. Shout out to Hitomi, Hiro, and Ryoko who were working that day - very friendly and welcoming :)
Great vibes, great food. I'm not vegan, was just looking for something healthy, and I was pleasantly surprised! The vegan ramen tastes great and the lil steamed dumplings are so moreish. The staff are really cheery too so I had a nice time. Definitely coming back!
We had an amazing visit to Moon and Back while wandering around Kyoto. Fantastic vegan/gluten free ramen and side options (including incredible desserts - you HAVE to try the matcha brownie with ice cream!!). I am not even vegan or gluten intolerant and I thought everything was delicious. Highly recommend the vegan miso ramen - so creamy and with such umami flavor. Ditto for the desserts - you would have no idea they are vegan! The quality was outstanding. As others have said, the cherry on top is the staff, who were extremely kind and talented. Clearly masters of their craft. Everything was plated beautifully and they were so welcoming to us foreigners, treating us so warmly and making us feel extremely comfortable. We are only in Kyoto for a couple days but we might just have to sneak in another visit, and definitely will on our next trip!!
Loved Moon and Back. Honestly, the tastiest gluten‑free inclusive food I’ve had in Japan. Nothing felt “adapted” or second‑best — everything was super tasty, beautifully cooked, and full of that proper Japanese depth of flavour. And gluten‑free beer with starter and dessert options… actual options! The vibe was friendly, warm, and just easy. Such a refreshing experience where being gluten free didn’t mean missing out. Also, a must try is the magical ahphrodite cocktail with a cherry blossom twist #perfection
