Steak Ichiro

This restaurant is one of the best I have been in Kyoto so far. From the starters to the tender beef that melts in your mouth, it is a unique experience prepared by a chef who pays attention to details. I chose the set menu with premium beef (tenderloin) and enjoyed everything that i ate in a cosy environment. Premium dining experience, without doubt. (p.s. I recommend that you get the garlic fried rice instead of the regular one. It’s worth it. )

Without a doubt one of our best dining experiences ever. We had the restaurant to ourselves with the chef, which made the experience even better. He was very kind and explained what each dish was. The quality of the ingredients is 5 stars. If you are looking for a place in Kyoto to have a Wagyu set dinner, this is absolutely the place to reserve. You will not be disappointed.

We were recommended by friends who had been here last year. You can easily miss the entrance as it is not obvious that the unassuming entrance is a restaurant.

However please do make an effort to visit this place as the food is second to none.

It appears to be a one man band/chef who leads you through the various menus and options with a good smattering of English and a great deal of charm.

The fish, beef and vegetables are superb and the roasted and dried garlic that is served with the beef is a must.

It has been the best food so far that we have enjoyed in Japan.

If you in the vicinity of Kyoto make this restaurant your destination of choice you will not be disappointed.

Simply put, a unique, curated, Michelin worth, culinary experience in Kyoto. If you like meat, you ought to visit. Niki has been running this business on his own for 15 years, and has perfected it. In a normal evening, no more than three couples are all the guests. When we went, we were the only ones.
We ordered the set menu of premium sirloin and tenderloin and some friend rice. A cold asahi draft made it even better.
Overall, the food was 11 out of 10, but the atmosphere made it 20 out of 10 :). Just go.

I must’ve called 20 restaurants to find a reservation for my family and I , children included ages three and eight. I came across steak Ichiro, and was able to get a reservation. The place was small and very intimate, but traditional and the flavors were very authentic. In addition, the quality of the food was exceptional, worth the price.

My favorite part of the entire experience was watching the only chef and host Of the restaurant, prepare, cook, and serve the food all by himself gracefully. He was very attentive and welcoming. I would definitely want to return if I ever visit Kyoto again! Highly recommend this hidden gem.
