    Fantastic food let down by service that was just too fast and service was without warmth. We didnt have time to enjoy one plate of food before the next arrived. The food itself was great - steak in particular was standout but service very poor. Expect better as price is expensive for japan at £130 for two people.

    Disclaimer - wife was 20 mins late due to an emergency phone repair required. May have impacted service we got.

    Best meal I’ve had in all of Japan. Kobe beef was so tender and delicious! They also had delicious salad, pasta, dessert courses. Friendly, approachable bar seating in addition to tables available

    First off google maps is incorrect if you look at street view and where the pin is, Itoh is a few doors down (see pic with my wife when we were leaving). We are fortunate to have dined at many top restaurants around the world, and fantastic hole in the walls. Itoh is fine dining without feeling pretentious. It was the best steak I have had, so good it almost overshadowed the fantastic fish and soup courses leading up to steak. One great thing is the variety of choices for your dining (see menu pic). My wife chose a “lower” tier waygu while i went with the Kobe, but they also have a seafood only option. Everything was so so good. We had a reservation but others walked in without one (first week of December). I can imagine during the height of tourism season a reservation would be a must. There a tables with a canal view which would be nice but I recommend sitting at Chefs table/grill area so you can watch some masters at work. The next night we were on a good tour and were almost aggressively telling our fellow travelers to go here. When we return to Japan we will always include Kyoto and Itoh Dining on our itinerary.

    One of our favourite dining experiences. We sat and watched the chefs working their magic and it was just the best! The seven courses were so tasty and the steak was so succulent, its probably up there with one of the best of our lives. We even finished with a sake by the river as they let us move for our last drink.

    An absolutely incredible dinner and experience! The Kobe beef was delicious as was every other dish we ordered.

    We sat next to the window and watched the water flow down the river and enjoyed every minute.

    The staff were all in incredible, highly recommend!
