2 weeks agoMy wife and I were strolling near Kyoto Station when we were drawn into a small restaurant by a glass of wine. It looked very elegant and comfortable, with a mix of wood decor and warm lighting that felt cozy on a winter night. We simply ordered a platter and some roasted nuts. The platter had about 9-10 different side dishes, which looked very appealing and appetizing. Each dish was unique and flavorful, perfect for enjoying with drinks and conversation. The roasted nuts, however, were the most surprising. I initially thought it was just a casual snack, but the moment I put them in my mouth, I was overwhelmed by the rich smoky flavor. I've never had nuts so thoroughly smoked before; I loved them. The staff were all very friendly, and some spoke English, so even foreigners can have a great dining experience here!

3 weeks agoThis is Spanish cuisine using ingredients from Kyoto! The ajillo and paella made with yuba (tofu skin) were exceptionally delicious. They were also very accommodating when we left early, and it's a place I definitely want to visit again!

3 weeks agoIt was packed on Tuesday night so you would better reserve a table now! I was looking for a decent wine and dining place in south of Kyoto station where our hotel was. The food was greate, varieties of wine list, and it's rare in Japan but the rich sherry list on the menu! Like the restaurant name suggests, it's recommended for the group to talk over good tapas and wines!

4 weeks agoIn a word, it's garbage. Don't go. Don't go. The order, timing, and speed of serving the food all get zero points. The taste wasn't good enough to make up for it, so overall it was disappointing. What I ordered (order of dishes served): Carpaccio (4) Bone-in sausage (3) Tomato salad (6) Anchovy potato salad (1) Ajillo (2) Paella (5) I won't be returning. The waiter just looked blank when I asked for the tomato salad. And when I went to pay, they included a bottle of wine on the bill, even though I didn't order it, and I almost paid... If the waiter was handing me the price out loud, shouldn't they have realized something was wrong when they read it out loud? Actually, I only had a full glass each, so it was obvious they didn't include the bottle. Now, waiter, are you worth anything? As for the taste, it was too superficial and bland. The food is so bad I won't eat there again, and the service is terrible. I'd like to know what the appeal of this restaurant is. Miserable, ridiculous, fragile, lazy. These are the words that best describe this restaurant.
