Charlie's Tacos is a charming, bustling spot in Okinawa City celebrated for unique, slightly thicker fried tortillas and comforting taco rice. Locals flock here for speedy, friendly service and creative choices like the tuna mayo taco—everything is flavorful and satisfying. The venue is small but efficient, making it easy to pop in for a quick combo or linger over a casual meal. Street parking is available nearby for a fee, and the lively, authentic vibe makes it worth a detour.

in the last weekIt had been 15 years since my last visit. Many shops had closed down, making the area feel rather lonely, but Charlie's was packed. The taste was just as I remembered. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

in the last weekThis is a long-established taco shop. You can't go wrong; it's delicious. The tortilla isn't crispy, but rather soft. Water is self-service.

a week agoWe visited as soon as the Okinawa Project Team opened, but there was already a line! It's no wonder, having been founded in 1956 and being Okinawa's first taco shop, that it's been loved for so long. One bite and you understand why. Combined with the streetscape of Central Park Avenue, the "Koza vibe" is in full force even before entering, getting you excited. The 3-piece beef tacos here are incredibly large and satisfying. Moreover, the shells aren't crispy, but have a unique, soft texture that's absolutely delicious. The balance of beef, vegetables, and cheese is excellent, and despite its simplicity, it's addictive and makes you want to eat it again immediately. Highly recommended for tourists and those who want to experience Okinawa's beloved local food culture. It's definitely worth waiting in line for! (This review could also be described as having a "higher energy," "stronger business-like feel," or "stronger Okinawan local feel.")
