a month ago*Reader discretion advised (this post is quite long): May 17, 2025...I made my first visit to a shopping mall specializing in Brazilian food, located along Route 41 in the same city of Komaki. A staff member at the To.O. store told me, "The sweets in the display case can be E.I.'d here." Googled the location and found it to be the location of "Capybara," a place I'd visited several times until a few months ago. However, the store name was displayed differently, so when I inquired, I was told it had closed, which was quite a surprise and shock. May 19...With a heavy heart, I immediately thought of the sweets in question and rushed over. Seriously...how selfish I am... Checking the menu, I prioritized the hake from the other restaurant, even though I still had a longing for it, and went for the pork steak dish I had planned to select the next time I returned. (As I really wanted a sweet treat) I was concerned about the stomach-busting strain it would cause here as well, so I ordered the accompanying French fries in a pre-packaged order. At the other restaurant, it was buffet style, which had only drawbacks (for someone with a fragile stomach like me), but here they served the dish as a platter from the start, which made me smile. The long-awaited dulce was coconut-based. 5/26...I'm back, already for the beef stroganoff and chocolate cake. Just the other day I selected cajuu juice at another Brazilian restaurant, so I'll hold off on it here tonight. Many years ago, when I tried passion fruit juice for the first time at a restaurant, it was unexpectedly sour and quite put me off, but I thought it was okay at this restaurant (which allows you to mix it with milk). I ordered it partly because the milk contains a lot of casein (which is said to have the effect of lowering uric acid levels), but the distinctive sourness lingered and I was a little disappointed. The chocolate cake (as I expected after the coconut cake last time) was quite heavy (I asked for it to be made "feijeon-less" and replaced most of the accompanying fries with T.O. again), but it was still a bit of a letdown. The passion fruit is also available as a parfait or pudding, so I'll probably be torn between that and the Brazilian-style pudding the next time I come back. 6/2...Same beef rump? The dish uses passion fruit, and I was torn between Peruvian and Filipino, but went for the former. For the drink, I had pineapple mixed with milk. For the dulce, I had "pudin" (Brazilian pudding). 6/10...It was still raining at the end of the day, but I was determined to try some new food and dulce as soon as possible, so I headed there. I tried some Filipino meat dishes, but unfortunately there were no passion fruit sweets. I thought I'd try some other dulce, but they had all sold out yesterday, and they're just making new ones. I decided to "at least try one more," and of the several pastels (which are normally savory), I went for the only one that could be called "heretical," the "cream caramel one." I sipped my coffee, wrote this review, and enjoyed some mock sweets and cafe time. June 23rd...It wasn't exactly rainy, but not too hot either, which was appropriate for a day like this (I postponed last week due to the scorching heat), so I came in for the Parmesan cheese. Dulce had a new item, a combination of chocolate and coconut, which I decided on immediately. December 25th...Even though it's Christmas, I've been feeling sluggish all day, just like yesterday. After much deliberation, I came up with the "optimal solution": I could drive right up to the store, they served guarana as champagne, they had delicious chicken dishes, and they even had my favorite dulce. It's been a while since I've been here. January 22nd, 2026...I came in to take a break from cleaning at home around 3pm. I thought it would be quiet since it was a weekday, but there were more customers than I expected, which surprised me a little (almost everyone was Brazilian). Unfortunately, they didn't have any Boo Boo grilled or coconut cake, so I had to make a second selection. However, the beef stroganoff I had previously tried was still available, so I selected it (the chicken had disappeared from the menu, perhaps because it was unpopular). As for the dulce, I made the wrong choice, as the pudding I had previously tried was (if I'm being rude) quite delicious, but I did order a half-size carrot cake (for the first time here). I first tried carrot cake at an Iranian (and Southwest Asian) restaurant somewhere in Nagoya a long time ago, and it was surprisingly good. The one at this restaurant was coated on top with a chocolate sauce called "brigadeiro." In the end, my (early) dinner and dulce (and coffee) were well worth the trip. 1/27...I will be leaving Komaki soon, but hopefully before then I would like to taste the above-mentioned dishes and dulce again (I called in advance to confirm), so I came back straight away (laughs shyly). Anyway, this was my last lunch? Thank you for the delicious meal.
