Hacienda del Cielo MODERN MEXICANO is a sophisticated rooftop restaurant and bar located on the 9th floor of the Mansard Daikanyama building in Shibuya, Tokyo. The interior features an 8-meter-high ceiling adorned with a chandelier inspired by Kukulcán, the feathered serpent deity from Maya mythology, casting a mystical glow over the dining and bar areas. The space is designed to offer an unobstructed sky experience, combining elements of sky dining, a bar area, and a luxury lounge.
The restaurant specializes in “Modern Mexican” cuisine, a refined style of Mexican food that has evolved in the U.S. and around the world, adapted to local cultures while preserving its authentic roots. The menu includes traditional Mexican dishes such as al pastor, tacos, and guacamole, all prepared with a contemporary twist and an emphasis on fresh vegetables and bold flavors.
Guests can enjoy a variety of beverages, including Mexican wines, cocktails, and the traditional grape brandy pisco, often served in classic cocktails like the Pisco Sour. The restaurant also offers a selection of set menus, such as the “Casual Course” priced at ¥3,300, which includes dishes like nachos, scallop ceviche, pastor Caesar salad, chicharrón (crispy pork skin chips), cheese quesadilla, Mexican chicken wings, tacos emperador, and today’s dessert.

in the last weekThey advertise it as Modern Mexicana, but it's not modern at all. I ordered fajitas and tacos, but the tortillas, which are the lifeblood of Mexican food, were incredibly bad. It felt like I was eating plastic. I think they're doing their best with the service, but it's very embarrassing to have everyone yelling their poor Spanish so I think they should stop.
