4 semanas agoCuts of steaks were large. Marbling was fabulous and each bite melted in your mouth. Loved the sauce and ponzu that came with it. I did not eat the wasabi or daikon that came with it. Veggies were tasty when they were dipped in the fat and sauce. The meat comes looking raw but the cast iron plate is so hot that it continues to grill the meat and you just need to flip it over to cook to your desired warmness. Just make sure to put it on the rice or veggies once you have it perfect.

5 meses agoI love this place - we had the grilled beef rice bowl set, the mini qagyu beef tendon, and the flat iron steak, and it was very good. Came out at good speed, seating was comfortable and service was pleasant. The steaks were cooked amazingly, very tender and juicy, rice was nice and moist and cooked well, and the miso soup was great. I HIGHLY recommend the tendon, it nice and chewey and was seasoned very well, is great add on to our meal. Would come back!

6 meses agoI rmb this being explosively good many years back
The texture is still good, the phantom was more juicy than the Kyoto beef, but both doesn't have too much flavour.
The kalbi sauce is abit too sweet, doesn't completely align w the beef, and it is also overpriced when you can get almost 200g of A5 yakisuki for the same price at supermarkets. Also, at a charcoal yakiniku place, there's going to be more smokiness
Tendon stew was dry.
Still a fair price for the wagyu steaks, since their prices didn't go up at all over the years, but not the world beater in flavour I rmbed
Miso soup was good tho, the enoki was lovely

3 meses agoI first ate here in 2018 and was blown away by their Murasawa steak. They have since moved to a bigger and much more modern location, and even though Kyoto wasn't on my itinerary, I decided to drive from Kobe to the restaurant just to have the Murasawa steak one more time before I flew off from Osaka on the same day.
It was as good as I remembered it to be, and worth the long drives from Kobe to Kyoto and then to Kansai Airport immediately after. Had Kobe beef the day before, but it was a pale shadow of the Murasawa steak. Easily one of the two best meals I had this Japan trip.

2 meses agoWe’ve had Ōmi Wagyu beef in the U.S. that we thought was the best steak we’d ever had, but Otsuka is next-level. Simply amazing in the best possible way. In addition, the setting is simple, the service is excellent and fast, and the prices are reasonable. If you're in Kyoto or planning a trip there, Steak Otsuka is a must-do (we made reservations a full month in advance).
