Chiles Mexican Grill (Harajuku)

A lovely little authentic restaurant. Very family-run. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly. A nice change of pace. I'd gladly come again.

If you expect in any way half decent service avoid this place. When we sat down and asked to order the staff member said wait and then went to the toilet. After we eventually ordered we got our drinks and guacamole chips. We then waited almost half an hour, no staff attending or asking us anything, before I asked where our main order was. Rude staff member then just said “there is no order in the kitchen for you,” after I had inquired where our food was. We decided at that point to leave as we have a young child who was getting restless. Besides this, the whole vibe was off too, they had put us in their cafe next door where they don’t have any music on. It had as much atmosphere as a funeral wake.

I‘ve been to other burrito/taco places in Tokyo that are famous but this place definitely hit the spot for Mexican food. I lived in NYC for 5 years and was craving Mexican food really bad. I got the burrito bowl as I am trying to avoid gluten and dairy. Was a hit, definitely will be coming back.

I went there for lunch on a holiday, and it was the worst experience. The food was delicious, but the operation was terrible. When I first entered, the restaurant was full, so I was shown to a counter seat at the bar next door. The restaurant was dark, there was no music, and the heating wasn't working very well, which was disappointing from the start. After that, a waiter took my order, and I ordered chips, a burrito, and a taco. About 40 minutes after ordering, the burrito was finally served. I was hungry, so I was really looking forward to it, and it was delicious. However, after I finished eating, I waited another 20 minutes, but nothing else arrived. This was obviously too long, so I asked the waiter who took my order to check, and she said that everything I had ordered had already been served. You ordered from the waiter, right? Why is it like they're acting like it's none of their business? I was full and tired of waiting, so I decided to leave, but I was initially charged for three dishes. I explained the situation to a woman who seemed to be the manager and was able to pay for just the burrito, but the staff were blaming each other and the atmosphere was unpleasant, it was the worst. After being made to wait for so long, they only served one dish, and I felt betrayed. It's a shame because the food itself was delicious. I recommend this place for people who have a couple of hours to spare and are in a relaxed mood.
