TACOYOTE

As someone who left California for Tokyo, one of the things I miss most about the Golden State is the availability of good, high-quality tacos. Tokyo is a large, international city, so there are certainly great tacos available if you look hard enough, but, in general, places serving such delicacy are few and far between and often relegated to busy tourist areas.

Luckily for me, I happen to live nearby Tacoyote, which I’ve come to love. While it’s not necessarily a purely “authentic” Mexican establishment, it offers a tasteful and respectful fusion that leans more toward Mexican than Japanese. The owner is extremely passionate about his work and perfectly balances the neighborhood’s tastes with those of Mexican cuisine.

The tacos are well crafted, and the rotating special menu often has fun new choices to try. The restaurant features handmade corn tortillas, a variety of well-executed filling options, and, of course, a selection of Mexican beers, tequila, and mezcal. And above all, the owner is extremely kind and easy to talk to. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

We loved this place. Friendly barman and delicious food and drinks. We left wanting more and we should have ordered more. Got a few tacos, the grilled chorizo and a few different tequila drinks. Cute decor too

We had gotten a straw hat for the first time and it seems like it came out as a bloody mary. The tacos were so cute they had the shop name stamped in on it!!

New spot along Chazawa Dori with surprisingly tasty tacos. Rode by and looked at their menu before but didn't go in because the pics looked kinda like an Old El Paso home kit, but decided to pop in and try a chicken & cilantro taco this time... turns out they're pretty legit, nice soft corn tortillas, and way tastier than I expected so went for a pork & pineapple and a beef as well. Also both great. The chicken and the pork were best tho and cheaper. 400 or so per Mexican-sized taco so not cheap but also not bad compared to other places. It's more of a bar inside with a nice vibe actually too, and friendly staff and regulars. 300 yen service charge in evenings if you eat/drink in, or else free to take out. Will definitely be back with a small group for a night of delicious tacos & several Tecates.

Really delicious tacos. Very friendly service and a great selection of taco fillings (some traditional and some very experimental shall we say), along with a nice variety of beers and other drinks available. Would highly recommend the pork tacos. All very reasonably priced too. Will definitely be back
