Daruma Tacos

Absolutely unreal. I’ve had tacos all over California, including some great spots in San Francisco, but these Japanese wagyu tacos were on another level. The meat was incredibly fresh, rich, and perfectly cooked without being heavy. The cheese balanced everything out perfectly, and the thin pita-style taco shell held together the entire time — which honestly feels impossible compared to most overloaded Cali tacos.

Every bite tasted clean, high-quality, and intentional. You can tell they care about ingredients here. This ended up being one of my favorite lunch stops in Kyoto and something I’ll probably think about long after this trip. If you’re visiting Kyoto and want something unique that blends Japanese quality with comfort food perfection, don’t skip this place.

Really enjoyed stumbling on this place and trying a mix of Japanese and Mexican fusion. The teriyaki smash taco with cheese was fabulous! I should have got three instead of two. My daughter enjoyed the chicken nuggets and potato wedges so we were both happy. Will hopefully go back again!

Daruma Tacos was one of our favourite food experiences in Kyoto.

We were originally drawn in just walking past by the incredible aroma and the inviting look from outside, and we’re so glad we stopped.

The Smashed Teriyaki Cheese Taco and Yakiniku Cheese Taco (Grilled Beef) were both absolutely outstanding. Full of flavour, perfectly made, and easily some of the best tacos we’ve had. Paired with the local Kyoto Daruma Beer Golden Brew, it was the perfect combination.

The staff were genuinely friendly, helpful, and made the whole experience even better. We really enjoyed chatting with them, and that personal touch made it feel even more memorable.

Great food, great atmosphere, great people.

If you’re in Kyoto, I’d absolutely recommend Daruma Tacos. A fantastic find.

I walked by a few times before and decided to stop, and I’m so glad I did!
The best taco’s I ever had, honestly. I even ordered a third one. The employees are so nice, and the service is amazing! I took the smash cheese and teriyaki cheese taco’s! Definitely coming back soon with friends to enjoy!

These taco’s were next level good. So impressed and so happy we came here. Brought the kids. There is chicken nuggets on the menu which was great so we could enjoy the tacos which were absolutely delicious. Highly recommend. We ordered another round after eating them. They were that good. One of our favourite meals whilst travelling in Japan. The staff are so lovely as well. Such a great experience.
