4 semanas agoWe stumbled upon Awomb completely by chance, simply because we happened to be staying just around the corner.
Dining here was not just a meal, it was a profound sensory journey. The complexity of flavors and aromas we experienced is something you truly do not encounter every day. Every single bite was a revelation, beautifully layering traditional textures with innovative taste profiles that left us absolutely speechless.
A massive praise goes to the incredible kitchen team, whose artistry, precision and passion are evident in every single course.
Matching the brilliance of the food was the flawless service. The staff was remarkably warm, attentive and welcoming, making us feel genuinely cared for.
Thank you to the entire team for an extraordinary evening!

1 mes agoWe visited the previous model of Awomb a few years ago and really enjoyed it, when we saw it was changed to limited Omakase we were very interested. Words are hard to describe our experience. This sushi Omakase was incredible. I really appreciated the alteration between sushi and Japanese dishes. There were only four of us present but I felt like this made for a calming and intimate experience. There is a true care placed into the ingredients, preparation, presentation and environment. There is a special vision to this Omakase that was unlike any meal I've had. I'm sharing photos but it's difficult to recommend a single thing, trust the chef, him and his team are very skilled.

1 mes agoAWOMB delivers a brilliantly unconventional dining experience in Kyoto that strips away traditional sushi tropes. The conceptual depth of the menu is matched by the incredible warmth and attentiveness of the staff, making the entire evening feel highly personal.
The absolute standout was the Inari sushi with a hint of pine. AWOMB deconstructs this classic comfort food, pairing deep-fried tofu and sake lees with the sharp textures of bamboo shoots and pickled squid. The subtle infusion of pine adds an unexpected, earthy complexity that centers the entire dish. It is a remarkable piece of culinary architecture.
Other notable elements included the polarizing yet successful pairing of Espresso with white dashi stock, and the flawless quality of the medium fatty tuna. For anyone seeking an intellectual, beautifully executed meal in Kyoto, AWOMB is exceptional.

2 meses agoWe were so delighted to experience AWOMB in its renewed format. Starting from esthetics, the dining room, staff appearance, and music playing quietly set the stage. Each dish is a suprising combination of known sushi ingredients with quite a twist. The mouthfeel of some (tempura and inari sushi for starts) were pretty mind blowing. The chef and staff have a real heart for hospitality and excellence. If you are in Kyoto and love creative cuisine, this is really a must. Be sure to order sweets too. And for non-drinkers, NA options are excellent. Reservations required and the web app works well.

3 meses agoDelicious. Locals who can easily go to this place is so lucky. Combinations that seemed unconventional, are just delicious. Food is very fine. Can't remember the menu used sauces, so the tastes are pure to its ingredients. The radish taco is great. All the dishes had a twist that tastes good, even the sushi courses. The mood is kinda serious but casual, reminds me of DSTage, which has 2 stars. U know u r in a very special place, but it's so approachable.
