El barrio de Kyoto tiene en Teppan Tavern Tenamonya uno de esos rincones que la gente guarda como secreto antes de compartirlos. La propuesta culinaria mezcla influencias diversas en un resultado que resulta fresco, sabroso y genuinamente diferente de lo que se encuentra en el resto del barrio. Un lugar donde la cocina habla por si misma: sin artificios innecesarios, con productos frescos y tecnica solida detras de cada plato que sale a la sala. La buena cocina no necesita justificarse: Teppan Tavern Tenamonya en Kyoto lo demuestra plato a plato.

1 mes agoWe had such an amazing meal, the couple that runs this restaurant are the sweetest people ever ❤️ They were incredibly well versed in gluten free food prep and celiac precautions and I was able to eat so many things that I hadn't been able to have during my trip!
Make sure you make a reservation exactly the week before because they fill up fast, since it's a small intimate dinner setting. But you will not regret one moment of this wonderful meal. 10/10 we will be going back next time we're in Kyoto.

4 meses agoSuch a memorable and special meal! Every bite was delicious. I have celiac and was able to book a reservation when they keep the whole kitchen gluten free. The wagyu was melty and cooked perfectly. The couple that owns the restaurant were extremely friendly and made the experience very fun by teaching us Japanese words and explaining each dish in the set menu. I’d highly recommend anyone (especially someone who is gluten free) to eat here

5 meses agoAlthough not a dedicated Gluten Free establishment they offer a 5.00pm slot at the beginning of their service purely for Glyen free clients only. Booking is not simple but worth the effort as they are super responsive. We missed out on our first request for a spot but got in on a late cancellation on a subsequent evening. This place only has space for about 10 people and hence the atmosphere is close and you get very personal service from the hosts who are a couple that have been doing this for nearly 30 years. We had a fabulous meal and would recommend.

5 meses agoMade a reservation the day before for a Monday evening (they had a cancelation) for 2 adults.
Mentioned I was vegetarian, and they emailed back discouraging us to come as they are very small and are known for their beef. We read through and agreed to their extensive menu/instructions and decided to confirm the reservation anyway as they had an entire vegetarian menu page.
Very cute, fun atmosphere. A husband and wife team cooking and serving dishes right there in front of you. Everything was so tasty!

-Kyoto Vegetables
-A5 Wagyu Beef (my husband said this was the best beef he's had on our entire month-long trip!)

Total was about $100 + tip which a page in their menu mentioned and said is appreciated.
Overall, loved our visit and would recommend for a nice date night!

1 mes agoYou simply cannot visit Kyoto without having a meal with Hideki and Naoko at Teppan Tavern Tenamonya. It is a MUST-VISIT destination on your Kyoto itinerary, especially if you are gluten free or coeliac.
As a coeliac, I deeply appreciate the measures they take to ensure their guests can enjoy a warm, authentic experience of Japanese cuisine without having to worry about gluten.
There is something for everyone on their menu, with a range of items from okonomiyaki, tempura soft shell crab and French fries… to their perfect Wagyu beef, complete with an adorable lizard-shaped carrot!
The dining experience is intimate and incredibly special. Hideki and Naoko welcome you into their warm restaurant, which feels like home.
I’ve dined here 4 times in the last 12 months and will continue to visit on future visits to Kyoto. They have brought so much joy to my holidays and it has been wonderful to stay in touch in between visits!
The kindest, funniest and coolest people in all of Japan who know how to create the most delicious, flavourful dishes ❤️
