ZIRAEL Vegan Restaurant

This was a very small, intimate space, staff was friendly, and the food came out pretty quickly. I loved the huge salad that came with the set! I needed those veggies after eating rich meals the entire trip. They recommended the dumplings and the hamburger steak so that’s what we ordered. Both were good. I got the canele which was very small but I enjoyed it. It was a very pleasant experience. Side note, they say they close after they run out of food, so I would recommend to get there on the early side.

Our family of 4 went there for lunch. Awesome food, colorful salad with touch of dressings. Perfectly cooked dumplings and fried soy based items for a reasonable price. It’s a small place with 8 bar counter space served well by a friendly English speaking owner.

This place not only serves food it is served with warmth and love. Hanna and Meike were just wonderful as hosts. They were well versed with Indian phrases as well.
They were lovely to have a conversation and understand their whole philosophy of ingredients and vegan culture. They had fresh local vegetables. Some of them were seasonal and only local to Kyoto.

We had dumplings and soya chunks. All their dishes are served with a big portion salad which has delicious dressing and a bowl of rice. You may add soy sauce as an extra. The seating is izakaya style and accommodates around 8 people at a time. They are building a second floor for more people. It’s in a small lane but properly marked.

Lots of love to them and please visit when in Kyoto as it’s very near to the shrine and hardly 3-4 mins walking from the main entrance

My daughter and I were struggling to find some really nourishing vegan food on our last visit in 2025. We are so glad we made the special trip across town to check it out, as it remains a special memory and we still reminisce about the meal we had, a year later! That's when you know a place is just that good.
The food is just divine and we had some great conversation with other people, and the staff, both times we dropped in for a meal. Long may you enjoy what you do and don't change a thing! Thank you!

A cosy little restaurant down a small lane in Kyoto.
Easy to miss but you'll be glad you stopped by. Everything is vegan and everything is made with love and is delicious.
I ordered the dumpling option and it was very tasty. The salad is garnished with some delicious seasoning and truly earns it's spot on the plate!
The staff were absolutely lovely and we had a nice conversation about where I came from and what they recommended we did while staying in the area.
The desserts were also delicious, I will definitely be coming back next time I visit Kyoto :)
