3 semanas agoVery fresh sushi with the chef’s nigiris suggestions being all different and very flavourful. Attentive staff and very tasty egg custard and warabi mochi for dessert! Definitely a great authentic hideaway spot to eat away from the crowds of the temples!

4 semanas agoI tiny small place, no more then 10 tables.
But the sushi, it’s very special, fresh and well done.
I did not understand if it is family running but all of them were kind and friendly.
Truly recommend.
It’s not expensive and not touristy at all.
Thank you very much

4 semanas agoThis was the best sushi that I've had while visiting Japan. The plum fruit liquor was delightfully sweet and smooth. The green tea and mochi for dessert were perfect. Thank you for making my last night and last meal in Kyoto so very special!

7 meses agoSeriously, one of THE BEST sushi places I’ve been to, anywhere. Within Japan or otherwise. This spot is so lovely. We were staying next door at Guesthouse Soi and saw this pop up on the map. No reservations required, very casual and relaxed, however blown away by the quality and flavors of everything we ate.
It’s fine sushi dining all the way, with zero pretentious feelings. The staff are so friendly and warm, easy to be with.
We came here twice within a few days time. The chef remembered us and said he was so happy we came back. First night we went all out, did the special set menu, omakase style. Not a bad bite! Seriously. Crab, surf calms, sea bream soup, nigiri, tempura, hand rolls…you name it, we had it. Amazing flavors here.
Second visit we had the 980 yen 8 pieces of nigiri, eel hand roll (one of my favorites), fatty tuna, sea bream wrapped in green onion, tempura again, and miso soup this time. SO good! Plus Butter sautéed oysters…. Must I say more? Incredible flavor.
I’m so happy we found this place. I think the restaurant is relatively new (per owner of guesthouse next door), however the sushi chef is clearly experienced, but maybe he came from somewhere else and now has his own shop? Speculating that’s the case.
All in all, How lucky are we?! I hope you are too! Kanpai!

6 meses agoCute little hole in the wall place with 5 tables and excellent sushi! I got the 15 piece nigiri and everything was very fresh with huge piece of fish. It came with miso soup, which was the best I’ve ever had, 3 handrolls with copious fish, 10 pieces of nigiri, a cucumber roll and lastly a tri piece nigiri at the end (roe, fatty tuna and sea urchin). At 5500 yen before tax it is more than the à la carte items on the menu however you’re getting special pieces that arent on the menu and are a premium.
